Flexographic Press Operator

Job Description:
The Press Operator is the technical expert responsible for the daily setup and operation of high-speed printing equipment. You will ensure our products meet exact customer specifications by balancing mechanical skill with digital precision. Success in this role means hitting quality targets, maintaining a safe workspace, and consistently meeting production deadlines.


Core Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Set up and run the printing press and all in-line auxiliary equipment. You will be responsible for job changeovers, making manual adjustments, and ensuring the machine runs at peak efficiency.
  • Quality Control & Color Management: Perform rigorous quality checks before and during production. Use X-Rite color management software and barcode scanning systems to ensure every print meet color and technical standards.
  • Material Coordination: Manage raw materials for each job. Ensure the correct stock is loaded, track usage, and return excess materials to inventory accurately.
  • Documentation & Data: Use the Management Information System (MIS) to enter job data, track quantities, and maintain accurate records of production time and waste.
  • Daily Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance, including minor repairs and adjustments, to keep equipment in top condition.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Press Assistant to stage jobs and manage workflow. Coordinate with the Scheduling Coordinator and Supervisor to meet delivery timelines and solve production hurdles.


Physical & Technical Requirements

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and move throughout the shift and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Visual Precision: Excellent visual acuity and color perception (essential for color matching and print quality).
  • Technical Literacy: Comfortable using basic computer systems for data entry and reading technical manuals or job jackets.
  • Measurement & Math: Ability to use a ruler for precise measurements and perform basic mathematical calculations.


Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or printing environment is preferred.
  • Problem-Solving: A “cause-and-effect” mindset—the ability to identify why a print issue is happening and how to fix it.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various departments and team members.
  • Reliability: A commitment to safety, attendance, and quality-consciousness.
  • 3rd Shift (10 pm to 6 am)
