Job Description: The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for the activity in the shipping department to ensure the timely and accurate shipping of finished product to the Customer, while consistently meeting Company demands and specifications.


  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments to fellow shipping personnel to ensure production of the highest quality to meet Customer and Company specifications.
  • Attend and participate in the daily scheduling meetings as a representative for the Customer to ensure product is delivered as scheduled.
  • Ensure daily activities are conducted at all times in a safe and proper manner.
  • Assist in maintaining the warehouses in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Organize and maintain supply inventories related to the shipping and finishing departments.
  • Understand all related aspects of the management information system, with the ability to interpret various reports from the system, to effectively plan the daily activities of all shipping department personnel.
  • Ensure paperwork, records, documents, etc. are accurate and all required information is entered timely and accurately into the management information system and/or filed accordingly.
  • Work in conjunction with shipping personnel to accurately track, enter and verify daily finished goods inventory location transfers.
  • Assist in performing spot inventory checks on a scheduled basis and final inventory counts at year end.
  • Work in conjunction with shipping personnel to ensure product is packaged and labeled according to Customer specifications and requirements and meets Customer and Company standards for quality.
  • Organize and schedule all outbound, and necessary inbound (Customer return), deliveries to meet the Company’s or Customer’s expectations while maintaining a cost-effective approach.
  • Work in conjunction with receiving personnel to schedule returnable and recyclable product returns and maintain proper documentation of shipments.
  • Develop and maintain positive employee relations and ensure open lines of communications with employees and managers.
  • Proactively seek new and better methods to improve departments’ daily activities.
  • Communicate daily with the Supervisor on matters of importance which could negatively impact quality, cost, safety, or employee morale.
  • Communicate daily with the Account Services Department, the Scheduling Department, and the Finishing Department to ensure we are meeting delivery expectations of the Customer.
  • Ability to effectively use and understand all material handling equipment.
  • Ensure accurate verification, monitoring and organization of daily finished goods from the Finishing Department and long-term Finished Goods Inventories, in conjunction with the Scheduling Department.
  • Assist in development of written procedures.
  • Consistently perform all pre-determined required daily duties as outlined by the Company, the Supervisor, and the Plant Manager.
